Using Bonfire to do business with Harris County Flood Control.

This presentation will provide a user friendly and contractor-useful view of the Bonfire vendor portal.

The Bonfire site has the ability to notify vendors by commodity when an advertised bid/RFP/RFQ has been placed on the site. Once registered, a password will be assigned to the vendor and bid/RFP/RFQ documents may be downloaded. Using this system enables a timely review and receipt of bid/RFP documents. Since more than 90 percent of purchasing jobs are downloaded utilizing the purchasing website, vendors must keep their registration data, such as email addresses, current in order to receive timely updates concerning documents they have downloaded.

Harris County Flood Control District is a special purpose district created by the Texas Legislature in 1937 and governed by Harris County Commissioners Court. It was created in response to devastating floods that struck the region in 1929 and 1935. The Flood Control District's jurisdictional boundaries are set to coincide with Harris County, a community of more than 4.7 million people (2020 census) that includes the City of Houston. The other boundaries in which we operate – those provided by nature – are the 23 primary watersheds within Harris County's 1,777 square miles. Each watershed has its own independent flooding problems. Each watershed presents unique challenges.
